Reeths-Puffer High School has enjoyed a long-standing tradition of holding graduation at the L.C. Walker arena. This important district tradition will continue, but with a new addition.
The updates done to the historic downtown L.C. Walker arena were not only needed but done with class. It is a very nice venue.
This revitalization did come at the compromise of a number of seats that we used to count on for our graduation ceremony. With the current seat count and the sizable crowd that turns out for our ceremony, we’ve decided to use a ticket system to help us organize the seating of our graduates’ family members as well our community guests. This will ensure that we are maximizing the seats in the arena as well as providing an equitable plan for all graduate seating requests.
The link below is a pdf of a presentation given by Mr. Beckeman to the senior class.
Graduation Ticket Presentation
The presentation mentions an online auction for available suites, loges and party decks. We are currently building the online auction and plan to have the auction go “live” prior to spring break.
By getting an early start to our graduation planning, we’ll be able to address potential snags well in advance to our ceremony.
More to come soon!
The plows continue to improve road conditions and the wind has fallen off considerably. Enough to allow the High School Talent Show to take the stage in the Rocket Centre at 7:00 p.m. as scheduled.
Tickets are $3.00 for students and $5.00 for adults. This is always a wonderful showcase of Rocket talent! Hope to see you on campus tonight!
With yet another snow day to deal with, the battle for the OK Black Division lead in boys varsity basketball against the Muskegon Big Reds will be played as scheduled tonight in Rocket Arena at 7:00 p.m.
It’s been some time since our Rockets have battled for the top spot in our conference. We’re hoping the snow day will not deter the throng of Rocket supporters we’re hoping to see come to campus to cheer our team.
In the first meeting between our Rockets and the Big Reds, R-P prevailed in overtime, stealing a rare victory (for any school) on the home court of the talented Big Reds.
The roads are clearing and the wind is settling. Come out tonight and join in on what is listed as the top basketball game in all of West Michigan!
Always nice to read about R-P Alumni doing well!
Rockets Rockin’ at MCC
This post goes out to all current R-PHS students! Get into the giving and “dressing” spirit next week as we partner with Mona Shores to raise funds in support of Kids Food Basket of Muskegon County!
What a great cause to bring two great schools together! Join in and be a part of something greater than yourself!
Our friends to the south (Mona Shores) is partnering with R-PHS to support Muskegon’s Kids Food Basket by sponsoring a dance, change drive and other events at next week’s Varsity Boys & Girls basketball games held at R-P. In preparation for the event, students from both schools created a short message to get the message out.
Kids Food Basket
We hope you can come to campus to cheer on the Rockets as they compete against our friendly rival, Mona Shores next Friday, February 8th starting at 6:00 p.m. You’ll also be able to get involved with our Kids Food Basket fundraising efforts!
Last Thursday we had 3 representatives from the West Michigan Construction Trades share information with close to 20 students that were interested in opportunities and future careers within Skilled Trades. Bill Kenney (President of the West Michigan Building Trades) representing Millwrights, Casey Zaucha representing Carpenters and Geoff Younkers representing Electricians were available to speak with students during both lunch periods. Both students and the employers felt this was a great format.
We are hoping to schedule another Lunch & Learn in possibly March with representatives from health care. Thank you to the counseling staff including Alyssa for all of your help in identifying students that were interested.
For many years, Blarney Castle Oil had been a strong supporter of the Reeths-Puffer School community and is a prominent business near the high school. Store manager (R-PHS grad) Kayleigh Mock payed a visit to the high school to present Mr. Beckeman with a check in the amount of $500.00 to be used to augment science instruction and school initiatives at R-PHS.
The Blarney Castle Oil store is branded by Mobil and is located at the corner of Giles Rd. and M120. Mrs. Mock is the store manager and is serving the company in her 9th year and 6th year presenting a donation to Mr. Beckeman on behalf of her company. The photo below shows Mrs. Mock presenting the check to Mr. Beckeman.
We look forward to a fruitful partnership with Blarney Castle Oil as they are a very supportive company in our district.
