R-P Showcase Representatives

Showcase is an annual fine arts competition among schools in west Michigan.  The competition traces its roots back to 1981.  Reeths-Puffer has had a strong connection to the show since its inception as we have participated with talented acts and have provided the stage crew each and every year.  This March, we will send ___20__ of our very best students to compete in the two day event at the historic Frauenthal Theatre and another __4__ to serve backstage.  Reeths-Puffer will perform on Wednesday, April 11 or Thursday, April 12.  .  The awards are given out at the end of Thursday’s show.  The awards in the four performing categories are 3rd place – $300, 2nd place – $500 and 1st place – $1000.  These are cash awards, not scholarships.  There is also an overall “Showstopper” award given out which carries a $1000 prize as well.

In academics, our honoree is valedictorian Rachel Dobb.  She will be honored for academic achievement in front of the crowd.  She will also have her senior picture displayed on our academic wall of honor at the high school.

In athletics, Parker Aerts and Jayme Brantsen are the male and female honorees.  Both were unanimously chosen by their coaches as the most outstanding athletes in our student body.

Athletics and Academic honorees do not compete, but are brought onto the stage and their narrative is delivered by the host for the evening to allow all to hear of their talents and awards.

Our visual artist is Julia Ojala.  She was selected by the art department.  Her  piece is a self portrait done in colored pencil.  The piece will  be submitted March 31st to the Betty Clark-Canon gallery where it will be displayed for the month of April.

Our literary artist is Lindsay Richardson.  She was chosen by the English department for her poetry work.  Her poems will be reprinted in the Showcase program for all to enjoy.

Our solo / duo performer is Lindsey Bos.  She will perform the tune “Variations on a Theme” on her clarinet.  Her  vast talent will be featured in this extremely difficult song.

Our group performance is called This is Us  and is made up of Kyle Goltz, Anna Compton, Cassidy Briggs, Elijah Nichols, Hallie Ackerman, Jacob Westerhof, Jonathan Krause, Lyric Williams, Melanie Lamrock, Ray Brock, Evan Hodson, Matt Jeroy, Carson Judd and Madeline Stafford.  They will perform the powerful song “This is Me” from The Greatest Showman with 10 vocalists and a four piece band.
