One Reeths-Puffer student’s feelings of a “calling to help others” has manifested as a concert fundraiser for the children of Flint.
“After reading and talking to many people from across Michigan, I really began to understand what the people of Flint, as well as others, had went through and are still going through,” said Elijah Nichols, a senior who is treasurer of the high school’s National Honor Society. “I decided to put my sadness and anger to use.”
To that end, Nichols arranged “Season of Support,” a concert fundraiser benefitting the Flint Child Health and Development Fund, which helps families pay for treatments, healthy food and other services.
Donations will be taken at the door as people enter the concert, which begins at 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 15, at Reeths-Puffer High School, 1545 N. Roberts Road in Muskegon Township.
The event is organized through the National Honor Society.
Performers include Emma Ruzicka, a Whitehall High School student; Cassidy Briggs, a Reeths-Puffer student; and Amanda Schwaninger, a local performer.
