For nearly 30 years, R-P has partnered with the Salvation Army to provide traditional Thanksgiving meals to the greater Muskegon community. The best news we had over the past year is that the number of meals needed in our community dropped from 2,200 in 2016 to 1,750 in 2017! That’s good news!!
This year, we welcomed our new Salvation Army leaders, Chris and Breann Karlin to our Turkey Run team. One could easily remark that they were quite impressed with the outpouring of volunteer assistance provided by R-P students and the surrounding community.
Hats off to R-P Food Service Director, Connie Falbe and R-PHS cook, Donna Durda and retired Muskegon County Sheriff, Mr. Bob Carter for the hours of time they put in to ensure Turkey Run 2017 was a success. Thanks so much to our 3 VIP’s!
With the help of many volunteers, the meal assembly began at 9:00 a.m. Thanksgiving morning and sent the last dinner out the door at 11:30 a.m.
It was another huge success for all involved. It’s our hope to make fewer meals next year, but will do whatever it takes to meet the needs of our community.
