Green Team Provides Hurricane Aid

The RPHS Green Team, as their first action of the year, chose to fundraise money for the hurricane victims in Texas, Florida, and Puerto Rico. The first fundraiser involved students donating money and supplies before school, at lunch, and after school. When they made a donation, they earned a raffle ticket. These tickets were placed in jars with staff member names on them. The five teachers with the highest number of tickets received a pie in the face during the Homecoming assembly. The second fundraiser was a monetary donation by the community at one of the home football games. The third and final fundraiser involved a classroom competition. Each teacher placed a jar in their classroom and students were encouraged to throw their loose change in each day. After two weeks, the class with the highest amount earned a doughnut party. The winning class was Mrs. Studier’s 2nd hour with $239.00. Overall, through three fundraising efforts, the Green Team was able to present a check to the American Red Cross for $1,428.31.
