R-P Superintendent Honored as 2017 Pride Day Recipient

Each year, R-PHS student council members have the task of selecting a person who has made an indelible mark on the R-P school community.  Their choice for Pride Day 2017 is our Superintendent of Schools, Mr. Steven Edwards.

Mr. Edwards came to R-P from Byron Center where he taught social studies and coached the varsity wrestling team.  His first position with R-P was at the high school where he taught social studies and coached football.  After his first year, he moved into his first administrative position as assistant principal of the high school.  Mr. Edwards moved to middle school next to serve as principal before moving to central office as assistant superintendent of schools.  He succeeded Mr. Steve Cousins as superintendent seven years ago and continues to make a difference in the lives of R-P kids since his first day as a teacher at R-P.

Mr. Edwards receives a “Rocket City” framed original from senior artist, Lilah Parker to commemorate his day.  We are fortunate to have Mr. Edwards as our superintendent, someone very deserving of being honored as a Pride Day recipient.
