Jack Schugars, long-time Oakridge Varsity Football Coach and current special teams coach at Ferris State University came to campus to speak with our football players on the mental side of the game of football.
Coach Schugars shared how important relationships are in the game of football and how relationships are a two-way street. Both players and coaches must share the same passion to win, to contribute, to respect one-another and above all, have a “team first” attitude.
He shared personal stories of his experiences winning three state championships at Oakridge as well as his experiences at the Division II college level at Ferris State University. Coach Schugars urged our Rocket players to:
- Believe in your teammates and your coaches
- Always tell the truth
- Give your best at all times
- Remember, it’s about the team, the team, the team
