Rocket Marching Band Sweeps Captions & State Title in Flight III Competition

The Mighty Rocket Marching Band rolled in to Ford Field early Saturday morning with high hopes of earning the status of the best marching band in MCBA Flight III State Competition.  As loyal band parents unloaded the semi-truck packed with equipment in the early morning rain, confidence was high that our best performance was yet to come.

R-P’s prop pops and their crew of helpers set the field for the performance.  Spectators quickly found their seats our show was the talk of the flight.

At our performance played a hush fell over the large crowd as they were captured in the emotion of the presentation.  A rousing applause greeted our students as the last note was played on a flawless performance.  The scores from the judges for the top three bands were:

First Place:  Reeths-Puffer (Score: 90.3) Captions Won:  Best Music, Best Visual & Best General Effect

Second Place: Stevensville Lakeshore (Score: 85.5)

Third Place: Ferndale (Score: 85.4)

Our leadership team led by Mr. Chuck Hodson, took their vision of what this show could be and made it come alive through the dedicated efforts of our students.  The direction, persistence and commitment of this dynamic team is simply beyond reproach.  We are fortunate to have such an assembled and talented group of professionals leading our program!

The Marching Band will perform for our community in an encore presentation this Saturday night, Nov. 9th at 7:30 p.m. at Rocket Stadium.  Everyone is welcome to this free performance.

The traditional Stadium Echoes concert is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 20th at 6:30 p.m. in Rocket Arena.  This standing performance will be the very last time community members will hear the music from this performance.  Come and enjoy this concert and help us celebrate the leadership given us by our senior band members and they play and leave their shoes behind for future performers to fill.
