Equestian Team Wins District Titles

The R-PHS Equestrian team was well represented in recent district competition earning two titles over area schools that included Whitehall and Mona Shores.

Christyn Pek led in the Show classes while Kaylah Vande Guchte led in the Speed classes.  The district titles earned marks the first time in twelve years of competition that our Rocket Equestrians have won District Titles.

Kaylah competes with Grace in the barrel race.

The Rocket Equestrian team is coached by Amanda Winczewski and Kacie Burrow.

Mr. Beckeman asked both Kaylah and Christyn to share their thoughts about being R-P’s District Equestrian title holders and here is what they had to share:

“It was my first year on the team and I was proud to be a part of it.  I’m surprised we made it as far as we did with only two people on our team.  Christyn and I made a great team!  She showed her handsome boy Butters and I raced my girl, Grace.  I hope next year we can make it to state!  I was an accomplishment to make it to regionals this year after winning the districts.”  – Kaylah

“We made it further than I ever thought we would!  Regionals was a blast with my teammate Kaylah, even though we didn’t make it to state this year.  I’m glad I had the opportunity to be a part of the R-PHS Equestrian Team and I can’t wait until next season!  Go Rockets!!”  – Christyn
